My name is Stephanie, I am the proud wife to a wonderful man I just adore and the Mama of two amazing boys, aged 2.5 and 5 years old. To say I struggled with breastfeeding my first son would be an understatement. I went to DOZENS of breastfeeding counsellors, specialists and doctors and basically made myself absolutely crazy about the whole thing. But no matter what I did he just was not interested in nursing so I ended up exclusively pumping, every 3 hours for 7 months, with him.

When I had my second son I tried not to get my hopes up but I was ELATED when I discovered that this baby loved nothing more than to nurse. I happily nursed him until just after his second birthday and I likely would have kept going except he decided he was finished and one day he literally kissed my chest goodbye and said “All done now” and never nursed again. No matter how you mentally prepare yourself I don’t think you’re ever truly ready to be done with that connection. I felt I needed to commemorate it, both the amazing journey of nursing my youngest and how proud I felt of myself for pumping for all those months with my oldest. I was so proud of my body for being able to provide and nourish those sweet babies! I discovered Breastmilk Jewelry and loved the idea of it, I figured I CERTAINLY had earned some jewelry, something special just for me.

I started looking and I just couldn’t find what I was looking for. Nothing was my style or at a price point I was comfortable paying. So I thought, why don’t I just make it myself? It couldn’t POSSIBLY be that hard. And after a year and a half of research and practice, I came up with the process I use today. I discovered I actually really enjoy the process and the creativity of it. I love hearing other Mama’s stories and creating something special for them that they can physically hold onto and treasure, along with the special memories of that irreplaceable moment in their lives.
